So, you want to sing?

Good for you!

We all have a voice, and we can all develop it and learn to use it more effectively.

Not only is singing incredibly rewarding and fun, it’s great for building confidence, can reduce anxiety and stress, and can support heart and lung health too.

Who we are

We have a passion for teaching because we want everyone to reap the benefits that singing can bring.

Siân is a member of the Association of British Choral Directors, and a Natural Voice Practitioner registered with The Natural Voice Network. She has around 20 years’ experience.

Mel is a member of The Association of Teachers of Singing, and a Natural Voice Practitioner registered with The Natural Voice Network. She has around 10 years’ experience.

We work together when teaching as we each have different skills and areas of interest, from technique and vocal accuracy, through to expression and creativity.

What do we do?

Our specialities are:

  • Working with men and women who have never sung before, but would really like to give it a try.

  • Working with men and women who would like to join a community singing group, but perhaps don’t yet have the confidence to do so.

  • Working with small a cappella harmony groups, helping them to both improve their individual voices and overall group sound.

Much of what we do is teach proper technique, helping you to develop good habits that support healthy vocal use and avoid damage, and guide you to find your best voice.

Although we’re happy to work with singers or groups on an ad hoc basis, the best results usually come from regular sessions, with consistent practice at home. Developing a pleasing voice is not a quick process, and like pretty much everything else worth doing, you get out what you put in.

Your first session will usually involve singing a few scales and warm up exercises so we can get a feel for your voice, and a chat about what you’re hoping to achieve (there’ll also be tea!). Following that, we can tailor subsequent sessions to your particular voice and goals.

What does it cost?

£15 per hour per person for individuals or groups of up to three people. £10 per hour per person for groups of four to ten people. £5 per hour per person for groups of over ten people. Please contact us if you’d like to know more or book a session.

Siân and Mel are both fully insured, and both hold current Disclosure and Baring Service (DBS) certificates.
